Watch a clip from THIS IS BOSSA NOVA

This Is Bosa Nova POsterPaulo Thiago’s seminal (and widely praised) documentary THIS IS BOSSA NOVA, features Roberto Menescal and fellow trailblazing composer Carlos Lyra, telling stories of the people, places and performances that put Brazilian music on the international scene in the early 1960s — culminating in a 1962 performance at Carnegie Hall in New York.

This definitive documentary is being re-mastered and will be issued on DVD in the United States (for the first time ever!) in 2016 — but starting in November of 2015, universities, libraries and other institutions will be able to purchase a copy of the film with Public Performance Rights. Until then, enjoy this quick clip from the film.
